Our Story
When sitting down to share our story, we felt it was imperative that we share both the story of how two newlyweds in their early twenties felt a call to start a small, grassroots coffee roasting company, and how this one small company and these two young lives are actually part of a much bigger story – the biggest story of all time.
The phrase “Made New” is one we can see throughout the Bible as a description of what happens to a person when they surrender their life to Jesus Christ, making Him their savior and the Lord of their life. Once one believes in their heart that Jesus died for their sins and was raised from the dead three days later, and tells others that their life belongs to this Jesus, they are a New Creation in Christ Jesus (Romans 10:9; 2 Corinthians 5:17). We are no longer the person we were before, nor are we defined by our past, present, or even future mistakes! We are beloved children of the One Living God, and that is the best news ever!
We both experienced this transformation in our lives when I (Mason) gave my life to Christ at the age of 18 and my wife (Jacqueline) did so at 19. Our journeys have had bumps, twists, and turns, and neither of us have been perfect, but our God is perfect and has been with us every step of the way. While we became a New Creation instantaneously when we accepted Jesus into our hearts, the process of being Made New is one that will go on throughout our lives until we meet Jesus face-to-face.
As we look out from our own lives, we see that the process of being Made New is interwoven into every facet of God’s beautiful Creation. The seasons bring forth new crops, the air we breathe is made into the perfect source of carbon dioxide for plants, which in turn give us stores of precious oxygen, families welcome new members made new through the miracles of conception and adoption! Every year when our home state of Michigan seems to have caved to an eternal winter, through the last inch of residual snow, the first bits of flora spring forth giving us new hope for the return of our beloved and missed days of sun (if you live in the Midwest, you surely understand this all too well!).
Coffee is a beautiful example of this rebirth. Originating as a fruit grown on trees, coffee beans are actually the seeds hiding within these fruits to be either replanted to create new fruit trees, or harvested to become the beverage we all know and love. Jacqueline and I source beans from all over the globe, bring them to our humble coffee roasting machine here in Holland, Michigan, and you, with your coffee making method-of-choice, are the final, imperative leg of this relay journey to give these beans new purpose in your mug. Though you might not realize it, you have partaken in part of God’s wondrous story of making all things new (Revelation 21:5), and that, to us, is worth every sip!
So please, enjoy your coffee and let us know what you think! If you would like to learn more about us or share a conversation or experience you had over a cup of coffee, feel free to reach out through our email on the Contact Us page. We hope to start sending out newsletters and updates to your emails and on the website about how God is using our small business to advance the Kingdom of Heaven! We truly believe that we are a small part of God making all things new, so we have decided to take the first 20% of all purchases and donate them to help ministries, missionaries, and coffee-lovers from West Michigan share the beautiful message of Jesus near and far! Thank you!
